Meet the "Other" GOP Candidate for Governor
Most Texans have never heard of Debra Medina, but that's not slowing her campaign to become Texas' next governor.
Medina is a nurse by trade, but she said she's been involved in Republican politics as an activist since the early 1990s. But on this campaign cycle, the former Wharton County Republican Party chair is going from activist to candidate.
"I started preparing in February, not to run a campaign, but to be governor of Texas," she said.
Medina is also prepping for her introduction on the biggest political stage, which happens next week in Denton. She'll face the two big names in the race, Gov. Rick Perry and U.S. Sen.

WHARTON, TX, Wednesday, January 6, 2010 – Debra Medina is a true
contender in the Texas Gubernatorial election and KERA has realized the
validity of her campaign. On January 5th, KERA extended an invitation
to Debra Medina, asking that she join Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison and
Governor Rick Perry on the stage for the Republican Primary
Gubernatorial debate. The Medina campaign has accepted the invitation
that the supporters and staff fought so hard to earn.
“KERA has made the right decision.
Medina Victorious in Battle Against Republican Party of Texas
WHARTON, TX, Monday, January 4, 2010 – The Medina campaign announces the 1st Court of Appeals has decided in favor of Debra Medina in her lawsuit from last year against the Republican Party of Texas (RPT). Medina alleged the RPT violated law in the way it operated its state convention and was forced to challenge the RPT in court in an effort to ensure party followed law.
Debra Medina said, “This welcome decision by the court validates months of hard work. I applaud the court for its decision to protect the plaintiffs from suffering further.”
The case originally was dismissed on an issue of jurisdiction.

US Border Watch is deeply concerned about the lack of progress being made from both Washington DC and Austin TX in securing our borders from drug smugglers, terrorists and illegal immigrants. The two candidates for the Republican nomination for Governor who currently hold elected offices (that of Senator and Governor) have repeatedly made promises and then turned their backs on these issues or completely reversed their campaign promises. They have consistently failed to protect the rule of law and the citizens of this great state.
Debra Medina offers a fresh perspective on these issues. She is not burdened with years of conflicting promises that cannot be kept.

Governor Perry offers little, late.
While Texans prepared to celebrate the birth of Christ, the U.S. Senate moved us one step closer to nationalized healthcare. As Washington D.C. continues to force this unwanted medicine, Texans have remained steadfast in our resistance mounting increasing calls for legislative and executive action here at home.
Unfortunately, as has become his pattern, Governor Perry does little more than posture for the media spotlight. “It’s time Rick Perry gets serious about addressing the grave condition of Texas healthcare,” said Debra Medina registered nurse and Republican gubernatorial candidate.

Governor of Texas Debra Medina’s gubernatorial campaign today released
a new television ad, entitled "Face the Debate" criticizing Governor
Rick Perry’s and Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison’s posturing on public
debates including Debra Medina.
The ad will first air in Dallas and Fort Worth to further pressure

the Republican Primary debate KERA is hosting on January 14.

KERA would succumb to the political antics of Governor Rick Perry",

Debra Medina officially files for Governor of Texas
Austin, TX, Monday, December 7, 2009 – Texans are one step closer to freedom! Debra Medina was in Austin today, and formally filed to have her name on the 2010 ballot. The office she’s seeking: Governor of Texas.
While this republican primary is slated to be one of the most volatile primaries in recent Texas history, the Medina campaign has no fear. Medina’s campaign focus has consistently been to decrease the size and scope of the state government and promote freedom through a true representation of the people.
“Texans deserve a Governor who is more interested in the needs of Texans,” said campaign manager, Langford Freeman.

There have been many invitations to participate in debates and forums coming through our office. The public certainly deserves to hear from each of the candidates. Unfortunately, we’re receiving multiple reports that each time we confirm, the governor cancels. It seems that Rick Perry has learned, over the years, that in order to protect his incumbent status he must be in total control of who he is on stage with and holds the media hostage to his demands.
University of Houston students planned a huge Texas gubernatorial forum.

We Texans face our biggest threat since the New Deal. An overreaching federal government is poised to force itself into our lives in the most invasive and damaging way; into our very well-being. I applaud concerned citizens, caring parents, determined Texans for calling your U.S. Congressmen and Senators and those throughout the country who “ride the fence.” We must continue our pressure on the U.S. Senate to halt this monstrosity. You and I know the appropriate course of action for Congress and the President because we know and understand the constitution and the implications this bill has for our state and our lives.

We grieve. And we extend condolences, sincere and genuine. And I extend mine to the families of those slain in yesterday's shootings; to those injured and to their families.
Today though, beyond our shock, and beyond our grief, we must do something different. We must face the reality that this shooting underscores: It was not the first and it will not be the last. NO amount of military or police presence can protect us from an individual intent on doing harm. The protection of life, liberty and property must begin with us. We must be prepared to defend ourselves.

We must demand that our elected officials support and respect the 10th amendment and Texas sovereignty. The U.S. Constitution not only protects citizens' freedoms in the Bill of Rights, it also divides power between the federal and state governments and ultimately reserves final authority for the people themselves. Texas must stop the over reaching federal government and nullify federal mandates in agriculture, energy, education, healthcare, industry, and any other areas D.C. is not granted authority by Article I, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution.
Early in our history, many argued against forming a union fearing that the federal government would gain too much power over the state. Thomas Jefferson reassured the states that that could never happen.
