Dear Defender of Liberty,
I would like to introduce you to a good friend of mine, Debra Medina. I have known Debra for over ten years and have always been impressed by her drive and commitment to principle. Debra has been a real defender of Liberty both in her home town of Wharton and across the state of Texas.
Debra has for years been a key supporter and member of my campaign team. As chairman of the Wharton County Republican Party, she has stood up to the big government establishment and fought to hold our party accountable to our platform and our conservative Texas values.

It’s a shame isn’t it, that Republicans continue to ignore Hispanics especially here in Texas? The writing has long been on the wall that unless the GOP begins to better work with Latinos, the GOP will continue to lose races and be a minority party.
It is equally important, of course, for the Latino community to realize that true political identity will be achieved only through participation in all national party structures - Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Independent, etc. We are not all the same and we shouldn’t all be attracted to any one party. Here in Texas, we have an open party primary because our founders knew the rich culture and political appetite for change would protect what is best for all Texans.

Rick Perry and Kay Bailey Hutchison have been in office a long time.
Both started their political careers in the Texas House. Both were elected to statewide office for the first time in 1990.
Hutchison was elected as state treasurer and then in 1993 won a special election to the U.S. Senate. She still holds that job today but plans to run for governor in 2010.
After two terms as Texas agriculture commissioner, Perry was elected as lieutenant governor in 1998 and then stepped up to governor when George W. Bush was elected president.

I'm tired of being lied to. While our state leaders continue to boast about the glowing state of the Texas economy, there are some pretty dark clouds on the horizon, not just coming from Washington D.C. but right here at home. Governor Perry has offered no resistance to the doubling of Texas state debt on his watch.

While eyes have been focused on the healthcare debate currently raging in Washington, activists in Texas have taken to the street. “Flash mobs” have converged on congressional offices around the state to demand that the spending stop and ObamaCare be rejected.
Governor Perry never missing an opportunity to grab the spot light, is once again blowing smoke at the base. He is now claiming he’ll exert state sovereignty arguments to prevent the “very expansive government philosophy [being forced] down our collective throats.”
Perhaps the Governor should have been taking some of his own medicine. Debra Medina points out, he’s doubled state healthcare spending in Texas.
