Rick Perry, the Continuing Catastrophe
Texas leads the nation—in decline
The Nelson A. Rockefeller Institute of Government reported yesterday that fourth quarter 2008 to 2009 Texas state tax revenues have declined by 16.8%a.
Today, Debra Medina condemned the continuing failure of the RickPerry economy.
"Rick Perry is leading Texas, all right," Medina said—"right into a ditch."
"This latest report ranks Texas third to last in the country—while states like North Carolina and California are leading the recovery. That’s a result no Texan can be proud of," Medina said.
"It’s increasingly clear that the same old big government solutions—increasing state spending more than Democrat Ann Richards and having more unemployment than Democrat Mark White—is not the best conservative Republican solution to Texas’ economic woes," said Medina.
"Rick Perry and his cronies still have their jobs, but an increasing number of Texans don’t---and the new figures released today make clear, Texas government can’t come close to cashing the checks that Rick Perry’s budget is trying to write. Being the Governor is like being a CEO. Perry needs to be honest with the shareholders, that means you and me, the citizens of Texas" Medina added.
"It is becoming increasingly apparent, to paraphrase Ronald Reagan, that, while a recession is when your neighbor loses his job and depression is when you lose yours, that recovery won’t begin until Rick Perry loses his," Medina said.
Debra Medina, a nurse, businesswoman and rancher, is a Republican candidate for Governor of the State of Texas.
